Cookies and browser storage

Kumo’s sign-in service stores session information in first-party browser storage so you can remain signed in and access your account securely. A short-lived session entry may remember an unfinished digital-edition purchase while you sign in. The site framework may also retain scroll position for the browser session.

These technologies support authentication, security and functionality you request. They are available regardless of your analytics choice because Kumo cannot provide those functions reliably without them.

Kumo’s interface code includes a first-party cookie capable of remembering whether a sidebar is open for seven days. The sidebar is not currently used on Kumo’s public pages, so visiting those pages does not set this preference cookie.

If you allow analytics, Kumo records three limited aggregate events in its own backend: a homepage view, a publication-page view and a publish-button click. These events are not linked to a Kumo account or marketing identifier and are used only to understand basic site use.

Kumo stores your analytics choice, the time of that choice and this notice’s version in first-party browser storage. Declining analytics does not affect sign-in, purchases, publication reading or requested scheduling. Events that occurred before permission are never replayed.

Calendly is not loaded merely because you visit Kumo. When you select “Choose a time” for a requested conversation, your browser connects to Calendly and loads its scheduling widget. Calendly may then use necessary security or browser storage, including bot-protection technology, under its own terms.

Kumo’s typography is served locally with the application, so displaying it does not make a font request to Google. Kumo does not load a PayPal script, payment iframe or PayPal tracking integration; payment links open outside Kumo.

Kumo currently uses no advertising pixels, behavioral-tracking cookies, cross-site tracking, customer-matching technology or marketing analytics provider.
